Jamestown College announces $25,000 pledge from Basin Electric

Jamestown College Vice President for Institutional Advancement Polly Peterson announces the College has received a $25,000 pledge from Basin Electric Power Cooperative. The gift will fund a lab support room in the chemistry wing of the new McKenna-Thielsch Center.

“We are extremely grateful to Basin Electric for this generous gift,” Peterson says. “The sciences and nursing are strong majors for Jamestown College with about a third of our entering students indicating an interest in majoring in these fields.  The College has been graduating scientists and health professionals since its beginning and offered the first four-year nursing program in North Dakota. This new laboratory building will allow our faculty to continue providing the excellent educational opportunities our students enjoy.”

The 20,500-square foot McKenna-Thielsch Center will serve as a laboratory building for Jamestown College’s biology, chemistry and nursing departments. Groundbreaking ceremonies are planned for May 4, and the building will open in the fall of 2013.

Established in 1883, Jamestown College is a private, liberal arts four-year college granting bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, and bachelor of science in nursing degrees as well as master’s degrees in education.
