Jimmie women's season ends in round of 16
The Jamestown College women’s basketball team fell in the round of sixteen Friday as they were defeated 80-58 by two-time defending national champs Northwestern (Iowa) at the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Championships in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Jimmies finish the season at 27-5, setting a new school record for wins in a season.
Scoring leaders for the Jimmies Friday were Amber Ramlo (junior, Jamestown) and Kellie Schuneman (senior, Lino Lakes, Minn.) with 10 each and Casey Geffre (sophomore, Hankinson) and Bridget Schuneman (junior, Lino Lakes, Minn.) with nine each.
The Jamestown College women’s basketball team claimed the first win in the opening round of the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Championships Wednesday morning in Sioux City, Iowa, as the Jimmies defeated Union (Ky.) 60-42.
The Jimmies were led in scoring by Kayla Roemmich (junior, Bottineau, N.D.) with 12 points off the bench and Bridget Schuneman (junior, Lino Lakes, Minn.) with 11. Amber Ramlo (junior, Jamestown) grabbed 14 rebounds.
The Jimmies held Union to 28 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers.
Jamestown College (27-4) advances to Friday’s round of sixteen will play defending national champs Northwestern (Iowa) (25-7) at 8:30 a.m. The last meeting between the Jimmies and Red Raiders was a 64-62 win for the Jimmies Nov. 5 at home.
