1. Click Start and find "My Network Places".
2. Right Click on "My Network Places" and select Properties.
3. In the new window click on "Create New Connection.
   
• On the new connection wizard click Next.
  
• Select "Connect to the network at my workplace" click Next.
  
• Select "Virtual Private Network connection" click Next.
  
• In the text box type JC and then click Next.
  
• In the text box type vpn.jc.edu and then click Next.
  
• Select "My use only" click Next.
  
• Put a check mark in the box for "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop".
  
• Click Finish.
• Right Click on the new JC connection you just created.
• Click on properties.
• Click on the Networking Tab.
• Highlight TCP/IP - Click the Properties button.
• Click the Advanced button.
• Uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network".
• Click "OK".
• Click "OK".
• Click "OK".
4. A new window titled Connect JC will appear on your screen.
   
• For username enter your JC username that you use for logging into machines and email.
• For password enter your JC password that you use for logging into machines and email.
• Click Connect.
5. After a few seconds, you should see a new icon in the lower right next to your clock, this is to let you know that you are connected to the college network.
   
6. To disconnect from the college network, right click on the icon in the lower right and select "Disconnect".
7. To reconnect to the JC network, double click on the JC icon on your desktop.
   

1. Right click on the network icon down by the system clock and choose "Network and Sharing Center". (It will look like 2 computer screens on top of each other.)
2. Click “Set up a connection or network” on the left side of the window.
3. Scroll down and select “Connect to a workplace” and click “Next”.
4. Select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”.
5. In the “Internet address” box, enter “vpn.jc.edu”.
6. In the “Destination name” box, enter “JC”.
7. Check the box for “Don't connect now' just set it up so I can connect later”.
8. Click “Next”.
9. Enter your User Name and Password and enter “JC” as the Domain.
10. Click ”Create”.
11. Click ”Connect now”.
12. Choose “Home” or ”Work” for the location type.

To disconnect from the VPN

1. Right click on the network icon down by the system clock.
2. Hover over “Disconnect from” and choose your VPN connection.

To reconnect to the VPN

1. Right click on the network icon down by the system clock and choose “Connect to a network”.
2. Choose your VPN connection and click ”Connect”.
3. Enter your User Name and Password and enter “JC” as the Domain.
4. Click “Connect”.

1. Find your way to the Windows 8 desktop.
2. Right click on the network icon down by the system clock and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center".
3. Click “Set up a connection or network” on the left side of the window.
4. Scroll down and select “Connect to a workplace” and click “Next”.
5. Select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”.
6. In the “Internet address” box, enter “vpn.jc.edu”.
7. In the “Destination name” box, enter “JC”.
8. Click “Create”.
9. Right-click the connection and select ‘view connection properties’.
10. Click the “security” tab.
11. Click the radio button for “Allow these Protocols”.
12. Click “OK”.
13. Left-click the network icon down by the system clock.
14. Click the JC VPN Connection.
15. Click “Connect”.
16. Enter your jc username and your password as the password.
17. Your computer is now on the JC network.

1. Go to System Preferences
2. Click on Network
3. Click the ‘+’ button
4. Change interface to ‘VPN’
5. Change VPN Type to ‘PPTP’
6. Name the Service JC VPN
7. Click ‘Create’
8. Server address is vpn.jc.edu
9. Type your username into the Account Name field
10. Click Apply

To Connect just go to Network Preferences again and choose the JC VPN and click connect.
