Groundbreaking takes place for McKenna-Thielsch Center

Trustees, administrators, alumni and friends, and current and former faculty and staff were on hand May 4 for groundbreaking ceremonies at the site of the McKenna-Thielsch Center.

Named for lead donor Margaret (McKenna) Thielsch, a member of the class of 1943, the 20,500 square foot state-of-the art laboratory building for the science and nursing departments will open in the Fall of 2013. The second phase of the project calls for the complete renovation of Orlady Hall, the College’s existing science building.  read more »

Jamestown College graduation held May 5

Jamestown College alumnus and trustee H. George Schuler, Plano, Texas, delivered the Commencement address to 182 graduates during Jamestown College’s 106th Commencement ceremony on May 5 at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Mr. Schuler is a 1968 graduate of Jamestown College and is founder of Schuler Development with experience in researching, planning and developing commercial and residential real estate.  read more »

Jamestown College students earn recognition at PBL conference

The Jamestown College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter hosted the PBL State Leadership Conference recently at the Quality Inn and Suites, Jamestown.

Each Jamestown College PBL student who participated in the conference placed in at least one event. Mary Reed, Chapter Adviser, was named Adviser of the Year.

Michael Cumber, Jamestown, was elected Vice President of Member and Finance Development for the state PBL organization.  read more »

Four join Alumni Hall of Fame

The Jamestown College Alumni Association announces four individuals have been inducted into the Jamestown College Alumni Hall of Fame for 2012.

Col. Sherry Cox, Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; Dr. Peggy Foss, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Muriel Peterson, Bismarck; and Elmer Schindel, Wayzata, Minn., were recognized at a dinner in their honor on Friday, May 4, and during the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 5.  read more »

Jamestown College announces $25,000 pledge from MDU Resources Foundation

Jamestown College Vice President for Institutional Advancement Polly Peterson announces the College has received a $25,000 pledge from the MDU Resources Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Montana-Dakota Utilities Group, Knife River Corporation, WBI Energy, Fidelity Exploration & Production Company and MDU Construction Services Group. The gift will fund a biology preparation room located in the biology wing of the new McKenna-Thielsch Center.  read more »
